This is a genuinely momentous milestone for us. What started as a vision for a more transparent, community-first way of running our guilds is now a legally recognised organisation, built from the ground up to put community benefit and member transparency at its heart.
What this means
Community Interest Companies (CICs) are a specific type of company designed to operate in the community’s interest rather than for personal profit. In simple terms, this means Dragon Gaming is legally locked into reinvesting everything it earns back into the club, its members and nominated charities, rather than making a profit. It’s a permanent, legal guarantee that Dragon Gaming will always be run for you, not for personal gain.
That’s not just a general promise either. Should Dragon Gaming ever wind up, our asset lock names SpecialEffect (a charity supporting gamers with disabilities) as the beneficiary of any remaining funds, and each guild also nominates its own charity to support each year. Community benefit is built into how we’re structured, not just something we say.
