Who are the Dragon Gaming mascots?

When we first started working on Dragon Gaming, one of our founders (Tim) started doodling* a scene to use as background art:
(* Yes, I’m as disgusted and jealous as you are that this is apparently a “doodle”!)

What with him being a perfectionist and the two Andys egging him on, this quick drawing got bigger and bigger, with more detail and more characters, until we ended up with the art (and characters) you will see across the website:

Because of the sort of people we are (and if you’re reading this on our website, you can probably relate) we ended up creating identities for these adventurers. That then led to back stories and personalities. And thus, the original Dragon Gaming Party was born. Let us introduce you to them:

Vaelith Ashvale

Vaelith Ashvale (he/him) grew up between two worlds and never quite settled in either, so he settled into everywhere instead. Spent years scouting trade roads and leading caravans safely through bad country before Dragon Gaming’s guilds gave him something worth putting down roots for. Knows every back road, every innkeeper and everyone’s name.

Aldric Thornweave

Aldric Thornweave (he/him) spent decades in a tower he’ll tell you was much more prestigious than it sounds, studying things he’ll insist you couldn’t possibly understand. Ended up at Dragon Gaming ostensibly to “observe amateur spellcraft” and never quite left, largely because he’s grown fond of the regulars without ever planning to (or admitting it).

Thea Wade

Dame Thea Wade of the Emblazoned Shield, to give her full title, (she/her) took her oath young and hasn’t found a reason to regret it yet. Travels the guilds looking for people who need a hand, whether that’s a lost adventurer, a table short a player, or someone who just needs telling they did well. Genuinely believes most problems come from people not talking to each other enough.

Pockets

Snick “Pockets” Fizzlewick (he/him). Doesn’t remember leaving home, he just followed something interesting out the door one day and never stopped. Everything he owns was found, given, or gently “borrowed” so you haven’t noticed yet and every item’s got a story he’s dying to tell. Fearless, loyal and fast. Count your pouches before he leaves though.

Deep

Vor’nak the Deep-Born AKA “Deep” (they/them) came up from somewhere far below, somewhere the sun doesn’t reach and the customs are different enough that surface manners still don’t quite make sense to them. Joined the guild not for glory but because someone was kind to them once, and they have been repaying that debt ever since, one dungeon at a time. Speaks rarely.

Gem

“Gem” (she/her) was originally shorthand for “Generic Eye Monster” and it stuck so thoroughly that it’s just her name now – most people have forgotten it was ever an acronym. Drifts around the tavern rather than floating at the table, which means she’s usually seen something the others haven’t. Treats every overheard conversation and passing bit of news as something worth passing along to others.

Zaeth Duskbrew

Zaeth Duskbrew (she/her) keeps the bar at the Dragon Gaming tavern. Left the Underdark behind, brought the attitude with her. Heard every excuse in the book, poured every drink twice, and hasn’t found a quest yet worth getting out of the chair for. Sardonic, unimpressed, quietly fond of the regulars despite herself. Ask her anything, just don’t expect enthusiasm.
